Taman Negara is located east of Kuala Lumpur in the states of
Pahang, Kalantan and Terengganu. It is considered the oldest
rain forest in the world (about 130 million years old) There you
can take a canopy walkway through the forest, swim, fish, jungle
walk, explore caves and go on a night safari. Go there.....
This sanctuary is located just a couple of miles from the town of Lumut in the state of Perak. Visitors get the opportunity to learn about the turtles in their natural habitat. Run by the Department of Fisheries, this hatchery and research center is a quiet stretch of beach and main landing area for the Green Turtle, Olive Ridley Turtle and Painted Terrapin. Go there.....

The National Department of Wildlife and National Parks established the Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary in 1989. The center is geared towards the plight of the endangered Malaysian elephant. Elephants are tracked down, sedated and relocated from their natural habitat that have been encroached by human developments, namely plantations. The captured wild elephants are then relocated to National Parks. Go there.....

The Matang Mangrove Forest Reserve is also located a couple
of miles from the town of Lumut in the state of Perak. An
unusual sight to see, these salt resistant trees along the
coastline, have their roots exposed above the soggy earth. A
boardwalk winds it way through the forest reserve. Go there.....
Gunung Mulu National Park is Sarawak's premier national
park, located deep in the rainforest; at the last count, it
featured 20,000 animal species and 3500 plant species.
Quite apart from the park's primary rainforest, which is
characterized by clear rivers and high-altitude vegetation, there
are three dramatically eroded mountains, including
fifty-metre-high limestone spikes known as the Pinnacles.

The Niah Cave is located in the Niah National Park in Sarawak.
Humans inhabited the Niah Cave some 40,000 years ago. Early
Sarawak communities buried their dead in boat-shaped coffins,
arranged around the cave walls dating of the contents has
proved that the caves had been used as a cemetery for tens of
thousands of years. Go there.....
Amid the lofty peaks of Banjaran Titiwangsa, lies the various
outposts of the CAMERON HIGHLANDS (1524m), Malaysia's
most extensive hill station. Used as a weekend retreat since the
1920s and still, despite hotels and luxury apartments,
quintessentially is English in character. Its rolling green fields
dotted with country cottages, farms and a golf course brings a
certain kind of charm to this hillside resort. Weekenders flock
here in the thousands to cool down and go walking in the hills

Yes, this is your room says Miss Yap as she hands me the
keys. I am excited. I have never spent a night in a tree-house
before. Your bags will be along shortly she adds. The porter will
carry them up to your room. You won't have to do a thing.
Wow! I love this room! The bed is right in the middle with
windows all around. I rush to look out of all three sides of the
room. I can see everything from here. I am up in the treetops! I
head to the sliding doors and push them open. Another wow!
The ocean is right below me! I pause for a couple of minutes to
take all this in. Ahhh.......It is wonderful to be alive.

Batu Caves, a tourist attraction just north of Kuala Lumpur, is a
sacred place for the Hindu's in Malaysia. These limestone
caves discovered in 1892, consist of three main caves and a
number of smaller ones.
One of only three orang-utan sanctuaries in the world, the
Sepilok Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre 25km west of
Sandakan, Sabah, trains young and domesticated orang-utans
to fend for themselves. Close to feeding time, a warden leads
you to Station A, passing the nursery, where baby orang-utans
are taught elementary climbing skills - a thrilling sight.
