catamaran-sailing. Enjoy land activities such as go-karting,
golfing and ultra-light aircraft flying.

The Fishermen's Museum at Tanjung Balau
A tiny fishing village close by has a collection of fish traps and
equipment used by the local fishermen.

Gunung Belumut Recreational Forest
This forest reserve got its name from the slippery and slimy
stones found in the reserve.

Gunung Ledang
Gunung Ledang or Mount Ophir at 1,286 meters offers visitors
some breath taking views. Engage in a two day trek passing
some exquisite waterfalls like the Gunung Ledang waterfalls at
the base of the mountain, or hike straight up to the summit and
enjoy the view of the Straits of Malacca and parts of the Sumatra
coastline.

The Grand Palace & Royal Sultan Abu Bakar Museum

treasures acquired from all over the world.

Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque
On top of a hill, close to the Istana Besar, overlooking the Straits
of Johor, is one of the most beautiful old mosques in Malaysia,
the Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque.

Tanjung Pai
This wetland sanctuary made up of mostly mangroves, on the
southern most tip of the state, is home to many species of birds
and animals. At the complex, visitors can learn about the
wetlands
Desaru Fruit Farm
Visit the Desaru Fruit Farm in Johor
Sample fruits such as starfruit, jackfruit, soursop, honey
orange, the king of fruits the durian and much more. There
are 160 acres farmed with tropical fruits here.

The farm also received the Ministry of Agriculture national
level awards including the Special Award Malaysia
Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro-Tourism(MAHA), in the
Agro-tourism category in educational tour. Take a tour of the
farm and sample the fruits, or buy some to take home.

How to get there by Car
To get to Desaru Fruit Farm, head for Kota Tinggi. From
Johor Bahru city centre use the Johor Bahru-Kota TInggi
trunk road (45km). From Mersing town use Mersing-Kota
Tinggi trunk road; from north-south expressway, exit at Pasir
Gudang or Kulai interchange and from Kota Tinggi town it is
another 39 km to Desaru Fruit Farm.

Lebam Wetland Preservation area. Catch the blinking lights
and keep silent while watching the fireflies, to view the
magical lighting wonders!

seeing it for the first time is always a magical experience!
Johor is Peninsular Malaysia's southernmost state. The for
shopping establishments. It fact it is know to be a shopper's
paradise well known for its bargains. It is also famous for its
colourful nightlife, coffee shops and nightclubs.

Johor's countryside is landscaped in pineapple plantations,
rubber trees, coconut and oil palms. Agro tours to rubber and
oil palm plantations and fruit farms are popular.
Endau-Rompin National Park, a 80,000 hector-park
straddles the state of Pahang to the north. It has one of the
largest virgin lowland forest.

The state of Johor is also mostly surrounded by water. The
west coast fronts the Straits of Malacca and the east coast
provides access to some wonderful beaches and off shore
islands such as Sibu and Besar.
