THE BLUE MOSQUE of Shah Alam
|
The showpiece of Shah Alam is the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah mosque, also known as
the 'Blue Mosque' for its graceful blue dome. The base of the dome is covered in a rosette of
verses from the Quran, while the overall architecture integrates, ethnic Malay design elements.
Decorative Islamic calligraphy also enhances the main prayer-hall. Its minarets are the tallest in
the world at 142.3 metres. Its graceful blue dome is one of the largest of its kind. It is one of the
most beautiful buildings in the country.
The museum houses treasured artifacts including royal regalia of
the Selangor Sultanate and relics of the British era. The museum is
next to the Blue Mosque.
The Shah Alam Lake Gardens in the vicinity is a beautiful
landscaped garden. It is a favorite spot for picnics, jogging or
recreational activities.
