The Stadthuys and Dutch Square in Melaka is the main attraction of this
old city. Built around the 16th century, the Stadthuys or town house
translated from Dutch to English is a replica of a town house in the
Netherlands. The Stadthuys was built inside the compound of the old
Portuguese fort the A'Fomosa. It was built as the residence of the Dutch
governor as well as the administrative center and town hall.
