The Stadthuys and Dutch Square in Melaka is the
main attraction of this old city. Built around the 16th
century, the Stadthuys or town house translated
from Dutch to English is a replica of a town house in
the Netherlands. The Stadthuys was built inside the
compound of the old Portuguese fort the A'Fomosa.
It was built as the residence of the Dutch governor
as well as the administrative center and town hall.
Mata Kuching
fruit
Literally translated,
Mata Kuching means
'cat eyes'...and by
the looks of it, you
can guess why it is
called the 'mata
kuching' fruit. The
white flesh that
surrounds the black
seed is soft, sweet
and juicy. Encased
in a tan colored skin
that is easily peeled,
the mata kuching
fruit is a great
snacking fruit any
time of the day.
